That machine is Ultra Rare. I bet it will bring in over $1200.
Is it better? Hmmm....who knows. I bet it must be a bear to fix if something were to go wrong. I don't think Leon in PA has ever seen one. Or Duall. Come to think of it, anyone? [Smile]

Hi,

I have an ELMO GS-1200 P-COM myself and I think the machine on eBay will end at about EUR 1000. If you look at the pictures closely you will see that the machine has been tinkered with. This can be seen on the photo, taken from the rear side. The record lock switch has been modified with an additional switch, the connectors have been painted with colours and a metal plate has been attached on the back. Further the front cover does not show the P-COM logo, which is attached on my machine. I really do not know why someone would do something like this.

I am really satisfied with the machine, but there are only a few changes if compared with the GS-1200 STEREO. The amplifier has much more power, there is a sound reduction system installed, the machine was only available with the 1.0 lens, a microcomputer for sound recording was added, the VU-meters have been changed to LED-meters and a LED frame counter has been attached (switcheable between frames and minutes on 18 frames/sec.).

The microcomputer is the most sensitive item on this machine. It is defective very often and there is no replacement available. If the microcomputer gets defective, no more sound recording is possible. I have talked with Ulrich Gruber from Soligor (former ELMO service in Germany) about the P-COM machines and he really does not like this model. He told me that ELMO did a quick job on this machine (simply to deliver a machine with microcomputer controlled sound recording) and thus the P-COM is not fully developed. There was no original manual made by ELMo for the P-COM machine. The machines were sold with a manual of the GS-1200 STEREO and two pages stating the additional features were added (simple photocopies without any pictures).

Well, I shall bid on the machine on Ebay, simply because I am interested in spare parts for my own machine.

Best Wishes

I still found a few german words in the computer translation,
I translated them:

To the auction comes: ELMO Super8 film projector GS1200. This film projector is meters in the best way suitable for reel size up to a length of 1200 feet. - an empty 1200 feet reel is not included in this auction

Lamp achievement 200 Watts! Elmo zoom shot objective with the outstanding luminous intensity of 1,0 (!!!) 12.5 to 30mm focal length. The projector is offered here in the p-Com version - thus with additionally audio intercarrier noise suppressor of Elmo with the designation "AdresC" a digital picture counter is likewise additionally present also to time function to switch leaves itself.

This Elmo gs 1200 is not simple for the demonstration of your films a film projector but " the projection machine for super 8 filmfriends ", as the technical literature wrote at that time during the market introduction of the equipment. Here briefly still a few further equipment characteristics: Magnetic sound magnetton-Stereo; Photographic sound recording rendition; 18 and 24 pictures with individual adjustment; Lamp economy circuit; impulse steered rendition speed and much more besides.

Before this Ebay attitude the projector was examined briefly in the rendition: a beautiful of conviction ending picture was on the canvas watches - likewise the picture standing convinced - the audio rendition was likewise impressing. The outside condition projector is very much maintained!

But the auction takes place nevertheless here expressly as a lover -; collecting tank- and amateur handicraftsman item without further warranty and guarantee. The Elmo gs is supplied 1200 with mains cable and objective protection cover. The supply takes place after cash in advance ; Postage and packing in Germany 18.00 euro and Europe 50.00 euro because of high weight of the equipment.

Well, it looks to me as if these elmo's are only suitable to be owned by the tech guys, Heinz, Kev and Ugo, etc.
The normal GS1200's are enough to worry about i don't think i would sleep at night if i owned one of these.
I'll stick to my usual run of the mill GS1200, so no worry's about me having a bid Heinz. [Wink]
BTW was there ever a Xenon model?

Chris.

Hi,

ELMO never built a XENON model of the P-COM, unfortunately.
