Does anyone have a speaker set for sale? Looking for the ES-1000, ES-650 or the ES-500.
Thanks!

You might check with Steve Osborne at Reel Image. He told me a couple of weeks ago about just getting in a set of Elmo speakers that were in pristine shape. May have sold them by now.

This auction just ended:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEDWX:IT&item=320316785685

might be the ones he bought. I would suggest saving a search for Elmo speakers in Ebay.

I know...the bidder beat me by 2.00-
I knew that I shouldn't have bid so early but I really don't care for sniping. Obviously the high bidder didn't feel the same.

I'll give Steve a ring.
Thanks!

Alan, can you tell me what is the good thing of those Elmo speakers (that make you are so interested).

I am thinking that inside the box is just an ordinary speakers and for $100+ we can buy a better today's speaker.

Do I miss something here?

thanks

Because it's cool to own all the original accessories?

Actually now that you bring it up...what other speakers could be driven by the Elmo GS1200 and still sound very good? And are compact? Any suggestions?
I don't want to use an external amp.

Winbert is right, any good speaker (with the correct ohm level) will work. I've plugged some THX JBL speakers once with superb results (these are now used with my 35mm machine).

A quick repeat of the rules regarding speakers...

Transistor amps:
Speakers of rated load (ohms), or higher, will be fine. NEVER lower, and NEVER, NEVER short circuit.
Valve amps:
Speakers of rated load, or lower, will be fine. Up to twice the rated ohms, not really a problem, but NEVER, NEVER open circuit.

A load mismatch will NOT affect quality of sound, only the power transferred to the speaker (adjust volume to correct).
Quality is governed by the quality of the speaker itself, so good HiFi
speakers are OK. The only real problem is that good HiFi speakers will be great on bass....and therefore not a good idea on "hummy" projectors. "Hum filters" in the speaker leads(such as the Craven), are of less use than useless.
Martin.

Martin, I think this problem can be solved with ahving one centre speaker mid-range (which can be best if driven by one separated amplifier).

But I think, everyone has a GS1200 will be better to take output line from the projector hooked up to a designated home theatre amplifier.

cheers,

cheers,
