A quick repeat of the rules regarding speakers...
Transistor amps: Speakers of rated load (ohms), or higher, will be fine. NEVER lower, and NEVER, NEVER short circuit. Valve amps: Speakers of rated load, or lower, will be fine. Up to twice the rated ohms, not really a problem, but NEVER, NEVER open circuit.
A load mismatch will NOT affect quality of sound, only the power transferred to the speaker (adjust volume to correct). Quality is governed by the quality of the speaker itself, so good HiFi speakers are OK. The only real problem is that good HiFi speakers will be great on bass....and therefore not a good idea on "hummy" projectors. "Hum filters" in the speaker leads(such as the Craven), are of less use than useless. Martin.
