MELODIES FROM GRAND HOTEL 1952 (400' SPOOL,15 MINUTES, B/W)
"Grand Hotel" was a must-listen BBC radio programme in the 40's and 50's, usually presenting "Albert Sandler and his Palm Court Orchestra."
This film features Leslie Jeffries and his Orchestra. It has a commentary (voice-over only) by British actor Terence Alexander, mis-spelt on the box as Terrence Alexader.
"La Donna e Mobile", "These Foolish Things" sung by Dinah Kaye, "The Hot Canary" featuring Leslie Jeffries and his violin, "I'll Take You Home Again Kathleen" sung by Cavan O'Connor", "Trees", and "Hungarian Rhapsody."
Not all the film is in the studio Palm Court, there are countryside scenes as well.
The picture quality is good although my print is fairly dark. The sound is very good and plays at quite a high volume.
This was a Carisbrooke Film released by Movieland International Ltd of Plymouth, Devon. I understand that the owner, Roger D. Lilley is now deceased and the company is no more.
The film was recently purchased from Independent 8.
