Well, following on from my review of Blind Danger, excerpts from the triffids, i have to say i am very grateful to all for the reply's to that thread, especially to Rob for his well informed item on the different versions. As pure luck would have it the other 400ft extract with the correct film title came up on fleabay. I couldn't believe my luck as i have never seen it before. Having read Robs short briefing on this extract i knew i had to get it. Unfortunatly i was bidding against someone else and i did go way over what i would normally pay for a 400 footer but hey ho, i won it. I viewed it today and it is another stonker with superb image given that this is a mountain jumbo version, colours are every bit as good and there isn't a mark on it anywhere. This is a very well looked after print and in its original box. All i need to do now is show the two, one after the other, to see if focus and frame is the same so it can be cut and joined onto a larger reel, if it isn't i will leave them as stand alones. I hope Rob doesn't mind but i am copying his excellent summary here to show the content of this great reel.
1 x 400ft Colour / Pan & Scan Version - This has a short opening title sequence, the meteorite shower, Bill Mason in hospital with his eyes bandaged up asking to see the meteorite show, introduction to the couple of the lighthouse and the scenes at Kew Gardens with the security guard and the attack of the first Triffid. Ends with the scene on the lighthouse and the fight with a Triffid. Then one of Mountain's rather awful and abrupt title cards telling us that the world is doomed, but the scientists on the lighthouse have the key to killing the Triffids !!?? Now all i need is something with the original ending but i dont think i will find it in this condition or quality.
What these images dont do is show how sharp they actually are, the colours are also much much better on the screen.
Thanks to you all for helping on the info on this on my other thread Blind Danger, especially to Rob.

Great stuff, Tom!
I've edited mine onto 2 x 600ft spools so that following the attack by the triffid at Kew and a fade to black, "Blind Danger" starts with the fade in of Big Ben the next morning.
Then runs to the end of "Danger" with the crashing of the plane into the ship and Bill Mason & Susan escaping...
The second 600ft opens with the last lighthouse scene from the 400ft and the fight with the triffid; runs to the end with the statement from the radio, "There is no one here who can see, there is no one left..."
Next a cut to the "Invasion" 200ft with Bill Mason & Coker in France...runs to the end and the escape from the blind home invasion...finally cuts to "Destruction" back at the lighthouse and runs through the melting of triffids with sea water and closing shots of Bill Mason, etc. climbing steps to a church and the end title.
The 400ft & "Danger" are good matches quality wise with, as you know, excellent colour.
Sadly, the 200fters were never great from new and have faded also.
Now who has "Inferno of the Monsters"???
