As the title says, "The Bakery" released in 1921 and featuring Larry Semon and Oliver Hardy is a film I recently received from the Netherlands. This is the Super 8 version released by Blackhawk supplied on a 400' reel.

The contrast and sharpness are excellent for a film of this vintage. The picture is nice and bright with great black levels and looks great projected quite large too. The opening, all title cards, as well as the end title are all the fantastic original Vitagraph titles from 1921 and not generic Blackhawk ones, although Blackhawk is shown before and after the film as would be expected.

I have screened this film three times now and it gets lots of laughs and seems to be a real crowd-pleaser. I like it too and is really one of Semon's funniest from his Vitagraph days, in my opinion.

So, if you are looking for a great silent comedy to show, this one has every gag imagineable from start to finish. BTW, this film was never issued by Blackhawk as a scored version so you will have to settle for silent only.

I highly reccommend this film!!!

It reminds me of "Dough and Dynamite' (Chaplin, 1914)
