I have just been screening a 16mm copy of an episode of the New Zealand TV series called "The Flying Kiwi". The series ran in 1979-80. The 25 minute film was obviously never transmitted as it still has a title midway saying "Insert commercial here", followed by a countdown leader. The Flying Kiwi was actually a 1929 Vauxhall Hurlingham open touring car looking very much like a Bentley of the same age. Does anyone in New Zealand remember the series and was it ever shown on UK television?

Hi Maurice
I dont remember watching it out here in NZ, as I never watched much TV back then, however I did find a photo of the actual car used in the TV series you mention, taken at a vintage car rally 1972 Hawkes Bay, New Zealand you might be interested in. Maurice your 16mm reel could be a rare bit of film from that time....

Thanks for that, Graham. The photo is a little indistinct but The Flying Kiwi mascot still appears to be on the top of the car's radiator.
