It appears that eBay has changed their categories in regard to Super 8mm. Instead of having 35mm, 16mm & 8mm subdivisions, there is now just one large "Film" category. We now have to sift through all those episodes of "Space:1999" to find our favorite small format. Doug

While eBay has indeed changed their categories, it has been pointed out to me (Thank you Bo!) that once you are in the Film category, if you click in the left hand list "Format", chose Film, then the Sub-Format button becomes active and you can choose 8mm. Easy as pi. Doug

Doug --
It's not quite that easy ---
some of the film is now in : DVDs&Movies: Film and the rest of it is in DVDs&Movies: Other Formats:
So you have to search in both of these to find all of the films
PLUS -- if the seller didn't explictly set the "subcategory" field, then the item shows up just under "film" or "other formats" without any information about whether it's super 8 / 16mm/ or 35mm.... It's a big ugly mess...

I may have missed something here but what was wrong with the way it was before, did they have complaints or something. I can`t see the logic that it will be harder for someone to locate things they buy boosting ebays % profits so whats it all about. Is it just a case of staff looking for things to do i wonnder. Anyway hopefully enough people will coplain and get it back to where it was that seemed to work fairly well. Best Mark.

The main effect for me is that the search I set up in Ebay UK, that searches the 8mm category with items available to the UK, now only shows items from Europe not the USA. This means that I probably won't bother with US sellers - which is a shame since the dollar is still fairly weak.

Hi guys, i'm glad it's not just me. Suddenly my category search disappeared! I e-mailed eBay, requesting instructions and getting frustrated trying to get all the items in one search again!

Guys,
I suggest all of us Ebay users drop Ebay a message to let them know the problems they have created for us collectors. This is the message I've sent to them...
PLEASE PLEASE restore the Film sub categories of 8mm, 9.5mm, 16mm, 35mm and other in DVD/MOVIES.
Most collectors of 'real' ('reel') film materials specialise in only one gauge of film.
I know many collectors (on collector forums, etc) like myself, who would use the sub categories you have just removed from your search options to narrow their search for their particular gauge and are saying they will not bother using ebay as searching is now impossible!
This is not an improvement!!!
So please reconsider what you have done, it has made life very difficult for enthusiasts to search for their wants.
