I saw them both and I liked them both. But there is something about the original, the campiness, the way it was shot, the soundtrack by Goblin, I dont know. That one has a definite feel and is definitely a classic. This new one, while I did enjoy myself, feels a little more "generic". Someone made a comment on a film group saying that if you knew you were going to get bit by a zombie and you had to run across a football field, wouldn't you wear some kind of protective armour? Especially since these new zombies run really fast like the ones in "28 Days Later".
Cool film though I have to say.

Hi David I see your point though I was thinking more of the difference in American films and ways of life reflected in them. Unfortunately in relation to your point we in the UK or US can`t stand proudly outside that as many of the most iffy goings on and leaders have regularly been, supported, funded, supplied and even installed with an amazing selectiveness often more in tune with ecconomic interests and often serious hardware wise etc. When you get into that sort of thing I have to say I do like many British values and wish they were more evenly used but can not say I`m proud to be British, especially these days. I do wonder if some films do erode certain values and restraints on a personal level or even society wide. We had a " moral standards" cqampaingner in the Uk for many years called Mary whitehouse and I paid here little attention being for full openness and no censorship. However one day I saw her talking on the TV about de-sensitisation by media, be it films etc. The example she gave was very good that if you saw on the midday news a dreadful scene or killing or mutilation you would feel shock and revulsion, when seeing it at teatime you would almost feel the same, at 9.00pm seing it again you had adjusted to it a lot and seeing it again later before bed the affect would be not nessecarily indifferent but way off in scale from the first feeling and its a good point I`ve noted in myself when seeing war etc on the TV over and specific occurances. I recently bought a trailer DVd from the States called Something Wierd with over 100 trailers, few sexy/horror films but many outright brutal and gruesome and it left me feeling quite off centre, I couldn`t watch it all and gave it away interesting in its own way it was. These were mainly from the 60`s and 70`s and were really quite sick and I had to wonder about youths etc in those decades going to see many of these films, modern stuff by comparrison seems quite sanitised and less under your skin grim. repeated watching of that sort of stuff surely can`t do you any good and must chip away somewhere inside at what you as a person can tolerate or tolerate seeing or being done to others. Don`t get me wrong I think in the UK the dare I say moral slide is more based in the 80`s self and Thatcherism culture that I think has led to a sort of sickness over here and a very poor quality of life for some people but there is a nudge too from what media we surround ourself with. Mumble over. Best Mark.
PS by the way I did see something quite funny sort of on a moring TV show here where a woman who was feeling down and aweful was advised to go out and buy an upliftuing and self affirming film " Gladiator" I had to laugh. I may have missed the point but Imperial Roman Empire stomps around enforcing its way of life and beleifs etc on other people and coutries and slaughters them if they don`t bend to their will. The " Hero " has his wife and child hung and burnt, he is forced into being a gladiator and lustily kills many other poor sodds so he can get a chance to kill his nemmesis who is clearly very mentally ill after killing his own father and happy odd others, and wants to have sewx with his sister. Both he and the "Hero" die at the end and little changes except for a few lucky types in the middle of it all and hell in a hand bag as usual for all the other poor sodds, etc. Have to be honest I missed his point good film as it is.
