Nice toy...

Is this the "Polistil" logo that appears on the instruction manual?
I can't really read.
But, if that's the case, it's a defunct toy company out of Italy.

Jean-Marc is correct. This is the rare "Tondo Junior CT-90". It came out in 1976 and was manufactured by Polistil, a company based in Milan that also made model cars and motorcycles. The previous model, the CT-80, was a dual 8mm projector, available in red and green versions.

Geez, my second slot racer was a Polistil. I then switched to Scalex (the Brits will understand... [Big Grin]

)

Anyways, this is a really cool looking toy. I still have a couple of Cinemax projectors around.

That big white half-globe throws me off, too. Is it a... room light? Or an air bag, in case you knock the projector off its stand and it falls down? [Big Grin]

(I can just see it bouncing right back up into place, perfectly aligned and focused to project a sharp image centered on the screen...)
Or maybe this is some fancy means of collecting ambient light and using it to project through the lens? [Cool]

Jan, for my understanding the globe IS actually the projector it self.

It is now on sale in Ebay Italy.

This post reminds me of something my fellow "colleagues" on the forum might know.

When I was a kid, I remember that there were ads in my comic books for a projector, (keep in mind, were talking stateside, USA), it was mini, and it looked like it would only take a 50ft. reel. It was all plastic, and I remember thinking COOL, I want one of those.

Did any of you ever buy one of those? If so, does anyone still have one? I'd love to see em!

20th Feb and my Tondo has just turned up.Would you believe it uses a 12volt car headlamp bulb [Smile]

Old style of course. It has flown all the way to NZ from Palermo,Sicily-first class [Eek!]

It has a single claw mechanism that is sure to harm standard or super,or both [Roll Eyes]

film. Still,looks good sitting on a bookcase,sort of a fashion statement. Just another example of superior Italian design eh?Trev

I especially like their kind of advertisements!

I bought at a flea market in Belgium the Telemax P8, very 70ies design. It has a remote control, in which you have to blow to turn the projector on/off!

Hello all,

wow this takes me back, that was my first proiettore ever. This little baby is the Polistil Tondo and my first passion was sown @ age 16 n has been blossoming ever since. It was more of an awesome toy, really... If I'm not mistaken, it had a puny 12 volt 12 watt lamp and the picture centering knob went out as I was a little too aggressive on it and pulled a few too many stunts showing off to my friends lol... I also remember the speed was a little too slow, slow motion like at times, but nonetheless, a great time capsule [Smile]
