I just ran across an old Revere eight 85 projector, and want to get a backup bulb. 2 of the bulb sites I've looked at have the bulb I want (CZX 120v 500w ANSI). Both sites list as a "Possible substitute" DAB 120V 500W ANSI. Does anyone know for a fact that the DAB bulb will work with this machine? Thanks! --Tom

Tom,

This might be one of the sites you've used, but they list the DAB as an alternative and I trust their information.

Tom,
According to the Sylvania Projector Lamp Substitution guide, the CZX and DAB are the SAME lamp, There is a lower wattage lamp as well, the CXK which is 300 watts.

Thanks, guys! I got outbid on a batch of the DABs, but I found a reasonable price on the CZX 500 watt bulb. Is there any reason I'd want to use the 300 Watt option instead? --Tom

300 watt is less light, less heat, and less power draw. If the picture is small, then it would be fine, but chances are the 500 watt is what you want.
