Who released the William Cameron Menzies film on Super 8mm? I just got the 400' version (original box and leader not included) and it's basically the last reel of the feature. It has an opening title (not spliced on) which means this was meant to stand as a 400' release. While the print is on the grainy side, the color is outstanding.

Hi-Doug

It was released by Mountain Films here in the UK,along with a 4 x 400ft version slightly abridged to 72 mins in both colour and black & white.

The Colour prints by Buck labs were outstanding for there time.

Cheers MW

Interesting - I have a 400' with good colour too. Just checked the stock, which is Fuji. It also says 79 JM; I don't know what the JM is but I suppose the 79 is the year. It's lucky as some Mountain prints have suffered particularly bad fading.

I'm pretty sure the late Alan Martin talks about editing 'Invaders from Mars' for Super 8 in the 'The Men Behind The Movies' (part 2 I think).

Thank you all for your replies! My print, like Adrian's, is also on Fuji stock.

Terry, could you please e-mail me a full quality jpg of the front and back covers? Thanks in advance.

Terry,

Thanks for the scans!

Joe,

Nice to know about Red Fox. Did they also release a 400' version?
