I found that some brand like Kowa, Sankor has 16C or D or F written on the barrel. It has to do with something.

What does it mean?

Hi,

Kowa and Sankor (and other companies) put a "16" into the name of anamorphic attachments designed for 16mm-projectors. (Yes, they also work for everything smaller than 16mm: 9.5mm, Super8, Regular8, ....). The letter is a reference to the attachment's dimensions (mainly the rear diameter).

However all companies used their own naming schemes, e.g. one company's "B"-size might be called "H" by another company. You can't even rely on "16 = 16mm-projector" as e.g. on attachments made by Möller or ROW the number in the name is the attachment's rear-diameter in millimetre.

So all you can do is to take a look at the super8wiki and hope that the data there is correct:

In doubt also try google! [Wink]
