It could be original in the way that the Zapruder film started out as an original: just somebody at the critical moment with an 8mm camera handy. (They say Abraham Zapruder never shot another inch of film after that day.) Given the fame of the event, I think the footage is worth something. At the very least it shows the event from different perspectives than the ones we've become used to.
A couple of weeks ago this fellow walked into the Pawn Shop on "Pawn Stars". He said he had original footage of President Franklin Roosevelt he wanted several thousand dollars for. They screened it in front of a historian and sure enough it was original footage of FDR riding out the front gates at the White House in an open car and waving to the crowd.
They said it truly was original footage but since there was so much other footage a lot like it and it didn't show a notable historic event it was worth very little.
