Film reel adapters? Why are they so expensive? Does anybody know if they are available cheaper than 4.50 each?

Or 16.00 for a dozen? [Confused]

I agree Pat, there is no justification for the extortionate pricing
of a relatively cheap plastic part. Incidentaly, I think these
converters are the ones that are usuallyleft in the spool. The
little adaptors that were made by Eumig were far superior. I have
been using, or should that be utilising the plastic inserts from
plunbing fittings that convert beautifully to the job.Made of tough
white plastic, they slide over the spindle on the reel arm, and
a rubber washer holds the spool in situ.

Pat,

How about $0.26 each? [Big Grin] [Big Grin] That's $4.24 less than eBay.

The minimum order is 100 pieces for 26 bucks and you can buy them from HERE

They also sell excellent hard plastic 400' reels with case for less than $3.00.

Happy shopping [Wink] [Wink] [Wink]

Hi Pasquale,

the adapter on your photo only works with tuscan-reels. However "your" price seems very high as its higher than the prices at Wittner (and Wittner already paid for shipping, customs, ...). BTW: Wittner is also selling adapters for other reels.

Hi Janice,

I've been buying from them for a couple of years - they have excellent products and super friendly professional service. I've seen some of their reels being sold on eBay for $23 (actual cost less than $3) The minimum order is a case which contains 48 units).

Regards.

If you don't want or need to order a case, here is a source for Tuscan Cans & Reels at much cheaper prices than eBay. The more you buy the cheaper it gets and the shipping is included. Scroll down to the bottom of the page for the Super & Regular 8mm items.

Interesting to see the Tusacan 16mm archival cans now available.

Regarding excessive prices seen on eBay and sometimes elsewhere, there are clearly sellers only too willing to take advantage of buyers who imagine that some such items are no longer made and are therefore in very short supply.
