NORTHWEST FILM FAIR. NOVEMBER 17th 2013.
NEW LUXURY BLACKPOOL VENUE.
The next Blackpool NORTHWEST Film Fair will be at the HILTON HOTEL. North Promenade, Sea Front, BLACKPOOL. FY1 2JQ. The Hilton Hotel is situated approx. 400 yards from the Savoy in the direction of the Tower. It is a modern hotel with outstanding facilities. A large car park is situated at the side of the hotel, this is barrier controlled and the cost is modest. The dealer’s room is very spacious and has easy access from the service road at the front of the hotel. There should be no problems getting the heaviest of items in at this venue. There are numerous power points around the walls of the room. Lighting is of a very high level. Easy to see the dust even on the darkest items offered for sale. There will be an enlarged space for the Bring & Buy and Auction, also an area for tables & chairs where weary legs may be rested whilst you have a chat to old and new friends.
There will be a nicely appointed cinema with approx. 70 upholstered seats, details of the 8mm and 16mm film programmes will be announced nearer the time, but it is also hoped to have something special again.
Food and drinks will be available in the Restaurant and Bars. Hot Pot will be on the menu especially for Film Fair visitors.
The Saturday Dinner will be at the Hilton and as last year is being organised by Adrian Winchester. Call Adrian on 0208 6560168 for full details and to reserve your place

Hi Robert, Thank you for your assessment
I personally thought that the 16mm was in reasonable condition as it appeared that everything was still in its box, however I must defer to your judgement as I do not have the knowledge to assess it properly and must admit I was just awe struck by a sense of beauty, and wonder of infinite possibilities.
My grandfather was the first person in Scotland to video a wedding in the 1980’s he then expanded his business to transferring super 8 and 16mm to video. This was his collection of projectors, what is not shown in the photos, is all the other paraphernalia that came with the projectors from bulbs to cables to manuals to editing machines etc. The collection now belongs to my grandmother and yes it is very obvious that they are not all working. I was therefore looking for an assessment for ‘possible’ sale (even for parts) since the projectors and paraphernalia do not belong to me and I recognise my inability to assess the collection. I do however recognise the collection as part of our social media history.
The collection has been very inspirational to me personally (a gift you might say) that led me as an artist in a completely new direction - the exploration of the medium of super 8, video, expanded cinema and photography. I can honestly say that I had a great time at University exploring all these artistic mediums.
I would obviously like to keep the best machine for my own arts practise however I am unwilling to just take the rest to the tip as I am aware that they do not make these machines anymore and so if they can be sold or ‘gifted’ for parts to an arts organisation, museum or enthusiastic student like myself then I would be happy with the knowledge that they go to a good home.
I am looking to organise a projectionist course akin to a car maintenance course the purpose of which is to learn how to take good care of the equipment I do keep. Throughout my journey I have obviously met a lot of fellow artists interested in super 8 and film who are interested in keeping the medium of film alive and in order to do this I certainly need to learn more.
So Jedi Master Film Handler are you willing to help to assess the collection when you come to Blackpool?
I also hope that you are aware that by calling yourself a Jedi master you have set yourself up to be challenged by humble enthusiastic experimental artisans such as myself. Having been a college lecturer I recognise that “by your students you shall be taught,” and asked a lot of silly questions born from the willingness and eagerness to learn.
The freedom of choice is yours
Yours humble enthusiastic experimental artisan – Jen
