I just knew you would be the first to answer. I think it's a 35mm projector?

Pasquale

Many early 35mm projectors also did double duty in projecting slides, this was achieved by sliding the double picture head across the light source.

The projector in the photo has a front shutter for film use which on close examination does not align with the lens as shown. This would confirm my thoughts.

The spool boxes hold 1000' of 35mm, and as you can see, they don't line up with the lens as seen.

It would be great if you have a picture of the other side of the projector.

It is definately an early 35mm machine. Possibly used by travelling showmen or very early "picture Houses" Probably has a makers name on it somewhere. The Projected Picture Trust may be able to identify it. Ken Finch.

I wonder if the piece at the front is to throw filters in the light path to tint the film for different moods.
Looks very Jules Verne.

It almost looks like an old motigraph 35mm projector. It is definitely a 35mm one though.
