Well I haven't updated the thread until now. I was awaiting the supply reel from Edwin, which just came in on Monday, and is installed. It really is a neat replacement. http://shop.van-eck.net/film-projector-parts/p-1a/PP-0132.html Great work Edwin on that part. I like how it can accommodate both std 8 and Super 8 reels. Looking at it,one wouldn't think so, but it sure works! And nice and snug as well. I should have bought the takeup side as well, but i guess this was a trial for me!
Back to the issue... unfortunately, as i mentioned earlier, it is the cork causing the issue. I found a roll of cork board http://i5.walmartimages.com/dfw/dce07b8c-dd76/k2-_98b06948-83d2-4f5c-9939-1011f01ade83.v1.jpg and have tried making my own gasket, but the problem persists. Finding something with the correct friction needed will take some time i suppose...
