I actually still have this set up in a room in my basement. Use it for splicing and cleaning film prior to sending it out for conversion. Thinking of buying a film transfer machine but not sure which of the two to buy. Retro 8 or Focuseye?

For me is Retro 8 as it scans frame by frame

For me, it's Moviestuff all the way. I had their Sniper Pro until it finally wore out. Couldn't afford the Retro 8 when it was new, so I went with the Focuseye product built from a Sankyo Dualux 2000H. Nothing but headaches, and only so-so quality. Just got a used Retro 8, and headaches are gone!

I have a MovieStuff Workprinter XP and a Cinemate 20. I had the Workprinter XP serviced and upgraded just a few months before MovieStuff moved to the Retro 8 and then discontinued support for their previous models. I don't do a lot of transfers so these models will suffice. They are not as turn-key as the Retro 8...but the price was right [Smile]
