Any ideas on how to get rid of stinky moldy smell from very old projector ?

Start using it! Wipe the exterior with furniture polish, take the back off and clean the interior as well as you can, also with furniture polish. Clean off all the old oil and grease and apply fresh grease on the gears and just a drop of oil on the shafts.
