This is the Universal 8 400 ft release of the LUGOSI classic DRACULA. It's in NEW MINT condition. VERY little wear and sound has been re-recorded off a digital source and sounds PERFECT, crisp, loud and with great fidelity. The BEST thing of all this recorded track is different than the 400 ft version released by U8. For openers, it begins with the LONGER opening titles from the 200 ft version as the SWAN LAKE "dracula" theme starts the film. We then go to the opening scene from the 400 footer, the castle shot in the distance. In the 400 ft version there is silence here, in this version you hear a faint howling..then we go into the caverns as Dracula rises from the dead. Much more effective. The next scene to differ from the U8 release is when Dracula meets Renfield, I mixed another faint howl......then I added the ONE classic line which was Omitted from the U8 releae" Listen to them, Children of the Night".I just had to have that line back into my digest. GREAT! Finally, The censored gasps from Lugosi as he is being staked have been replaced into the soundtrack. These gasps were also missing in the original U8 release, they have been replaced. This version is on black and white film stock and comes mounted on a 400 ft reel and COMES with the original plastic case.
