I've been told this release was at 18 frames per second - I have read the same thing here at the forum...

Yet, I have a copy the plays perfect at 24fps and not at 18.

Could there be 2 versions? [Confused] [Confused] [Confused]

I need this or any other sound film(s) shot at 18fps.

Do you have or know of any for sale or trade?

Thanks

Jon

Mine plays at 24.

Why would it play at 18?

Hello Michael,

When I was looking for a sound film released at 18fps last year, I received and answer here in the forum telling me about this movie and so I bought it.

Unfortunately this was not the case, so I was wondering if there was such a release available.

Here is the original thread:

Hi Jon,

Gee, that's strange. Perhaps John Black will chime in here and shed light on this.

BTW, the link in your post doesn't lead to the original topic.

Years ago I had a print of this that did indeed run at 18fps.It was a Blackhawk. I think I remember when it was initially released, the catalog stated it was 18fps.I've since seen it at 24fps.The mystery continues...,.,.,.,.

Blackhawk released Laurel and Hardy's DIRTY WORK in 18fps in the '70's as a trial. You had the choice of saving a few bucks for 18fps, or going the whole 9 yards and getting 24fps. Obviously, they would have to eliminate frames for this to work.

Hello Winbert,

Thank you for the link, I am giving up my search. Perhaps one will show up one of these days. I wanted it for testing purposes.

Best,

Jon
