Benjamin good luck with your hunt for The Great Escape on Super 8mm.

The parts on Ebay are the two Derann edited versions and not reels one and two of the feature. I thought I should clarify
this for you in case you never knew.

I see the seller reports the print as a bit warm and faded and one part has side weave.

Whatever you do i wish you luck. [Smile]

If you can buy a great print in 16mm take it, as I don't see one coming complete in Super 8. In Scope in 16mm even better. As long as it's LPP or Technicolor you are safe for a while, if you can afford it of course , Gilbert

The feature was never on super 8, only the 2 x 400ft, (later ones released as 1 x 600).
That 16mm print looks A1 but way out of my league for spending on a movie [Wink]

Tom, it might just exist in Italy as a feature. It's amazing as to what was released (a lot of the time, illegally, quite frankly), in Italy on super 8 as a feature films.

However, the down side is that in most cases, the film stock tends to be fadey eastman and the print quality can range from OK to gawd-awful! I once has a print of "The Rescuers" that was an "ex-theater" print, in the letterboxed format, that they made prints from, and while the sharpness was OK and the color passable, the amount of flecks and scratches to the source print used, was the WORST I had ever seen!

But, maybe, just maybe, it exists in Italy.

Maybe some of our Italian members can verify?
