Does anybody have, or know the availability of the book Bell & Howell Company: A 75 Year History by Jack Fay Robinson.

B and H have a remarkably rich history that involves not only 16mm and 8mm equipment, but breakthroughs in the early 1900's that advanced the development of 35mm projection.

I understand it was published in 1982.

Doug, thanks. I'd just searched Abe Books for something else and thought I'd check back here in case anyone had answered my request!

Whilst on the subject, do you know if the book Film Collecting by Gerard McKee is any good? Does it pertain specificlly to 8/16 film collecting?

Hi David,
I have Gerald McKee's book 'Film Collecting' and it is superb. It is 225 pages filled with every aspect of film collecting, 8mm, 9.5mm, 16mm, 17.5mm and 28mm. It covers the films themselves, projection, repair splicing and film care, Pathescope, Kodascope prints, you name it.
Also highly recommended, if you can find it, is Gerald's superb book on film projectors 'The Home Cinema', which has detailed decriptions and photos of just about every home movie projector of the 1920's thru 1950's.
Both these books written in Gerald's knowledgeable and entertaining style.

Thanks Paul, I have just ordered a copy from a book store here in Australia through Abe Books. Your endorsement is exactly what I'd hoped the book would be about.

I'm still considering the Bell and Howell book mentioned above. I am awaiting on several new silent film prints and several books as well at present, better pull in the reigns a little!

Thanks Paul, your endorsement was spot on. I very much enjoyed the book by Gerald. I can't believe it has taken me over 25 years of film collecting to know about it!

I also now have a copy of the Castle book and while interesting, it leaves you wanting more as others have said.

I am still considering the B & H history, but have films and other books on order so I'd better slow it down a little!
