Howdy to 8mm users and gurus ! I'm new to 8mm forum and started collecting retro stuffs when I was 17. This year landed my interest on vintage projectors. From my research, Sankyo and Elmo projectors seem to be the easiest to service/maintain and recently I come across Elmo XP-300 projector without power cord and lens. Is there any place I can look for lens replacement? I can't find any specification on net including the f(focal length IIRC) of lens. There's one four pin and two pin plug at left hand side. Weird isn't it? Google yielded another power supply unit XP-300. The power supply controller is designed to use with projector unit?

Austin
The Elmo XP-300 is a 16mm projector which uses a xenon arc lamp. This is powered by a separate unit which is also needed, as are the connecting leads.
The standard lens has a focal length of 2 inches, also referred to as 50mm.
I would respectfully suggest that if you want to get into 16mm, then a single case Elmo would be more suitable. Xenon lamps are getting difficult to obtain and as such their prices can be high.

Agree. The Unit is selling cheap without lens and power cord(supposed to have 3 but owner lost all of them). Other than that Elmos are selling at high prices. At my age, I don't have deep pockets and XP-300 is what I can afford so far. Sankyos do come out often and mostly seldom used. Comparing the silent mechanism I prefer Elmos than Sankyos.

After considering, I decided to let go both XP-300. My assumption is both stuff will be 40kgs in total so shipping ain't cheap plus primary and Elmoscope lens will cost high from Urbanski. Well, I bought a Sankyo OMS-650 very seldom used and still like new in box. Is that a good projector?
