"Flaming Lead" 1939 57 minutes.
"Phantom Rides The Trail" (Phantom Rancher) 1940 61 minutes.

With the orginals short running times, the cut-downs should be able to convey much of their stories.

Ken Maynard was not too good an actor, but his pedigree was quite something. Trick rider with Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show, later with Ringling Brothers, and also a champion rodeo rider.

Also read that at one time he campaigned for the Labour Party in the UK.(wonder what he was doing here). I believe that he died in very poor circumstances.

According to IMDb Ken in his last years lived in a cheap trailer park, drank heavily and suffered ill health He died largely forgotten and in poverty at the Woodland Hills Motion Picture Home on 30 March 1973. He was 87.

He was one of my father's boyhood heroes, along with his brother Kermit Maynard.
