I just saw the film Good Night and Good Luck. I really liked the film but more than the actual content I was truly struck by so much FILM! For one.. the look of the film is classic. Filmed in Black and White with gorgeous tones and reflections of light, smoke, just stunning to look at. And one of the coolest parts of the film are the scenes when the reporters are watching newsreel footage in a room. They are not watching Video or DVD's, they are projecting either 16mm or 35mm (I think it is 35mm) and watching it on a large screen. I think the fact that you have to dim the lights and you cannot really look away is one key fact to why we enjoy film so much. It is so visceral and hits home differently than video. Well if you see the film enjoy it and keep a look out for all that old FILM and wonderful film equipment!

It is a good film and so timely in today's climate. The footage they watched was definitely 16mm. All news footage was shot with 16mm cameras and indeed "bicycled" prints, kinescopes and tv shows were all 16mm in those days.

I agree Alan- a truly great movie. Murrow was such a class act, and very timely in todays America. Shows up the Limbaugh's and Hannity's for what they really are.
