I know the man,he's committed his life in cine collecting;very respectable (&rightfully so!) back home,he opens his museum regularly for visitors,so if you ever find yourselves in Athens, well worth a visit(he's even got the local area map uploaded)!

Just discovered a collector from Spain: Josep M Queraltó
He seems to have a collection of over 15000 (!!!) objects. All (pre-)cinema related.

I discovered a movie on someone's blog. I wish I could visit this collection. Where else can you touch an original Cinématographe Lumiere?

Look at the movie on the blog. It's all in Spanish, but the movie speaks for itself. The movie is at the end of the page.

I actually visited there a few years ago. It was all part of a coach trip out to Cim D'Aligues from Calella (spain) where we was staying, and we visited this on the way back. I could find out the exact address if you want. I think it is in Barcelona.

It was like an alladins cave in there with shelves of cine and moving pictures equipment, on several floors as well. Not very much in the way of super 8 but loads of 9.5, early 16mm, 35mm, stuff like that. But there was also 4mm and 22mm plus many other rare guages. Everything in the development of moving pictures he had it. There was about 5000 pieces there. You could stay there for hours.

He didnt mind you taking pictures or video inside and he also gave out his free 15min DVD that he had made about the collection (with versions in spanish, french, english). The DVD also mentioned that he had about another 10,000 pieces stored elsewhere!

As Steven Spielberg says....
Nothing beats old school projection. Digital is just an imitation.
