Following on from a topic on the 16mmfilmtalk forum, what do you all use as projector stands? I have always used one similar to the item in this auction: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=130320167624 However, some of my 16mm colleagues reckon there is no way this is strong enough to hold a 16mm machine plus film. Now, I'm getting slightly paranoid about it. What do you all think?

With due deference to your greater experience - I wouldn't use a stand as (basically) flimsy as that one for 16mm. When I go out I take a 'suitcase' stand - I don't think they're made any longer - which takes even an Eiki X1500 and we all know they weigh a ton! I also have a couple of folding stands (Dutch I think) known as 'elephant' stands. It's no joke when a projector drops on the floor - or on your foot! Cheers, David E

Yes, I wouldn't dare risk a 16mm projector with the stand shown on the link. Unicol stuff seems solid.
David: what venues do you go to where you show films? Race nights? It would be interesting to know members' professional use of film. I work in a school as an assistant headteacher and as a result have a captive audience!!
