If anyone grew up with Soupy Sales on TV,
he was one of the greats that followed with the
Slapstick fun of Laurel and Hardy and The Three Stooges.

I met him on several occasions, and he was warm
and welcoming.

Soups' gang with Frank Nastasi, White Fang, Pookie,
and Black Tooth, made it all fun.

The Frank Sinatra, Trini Lopez, Sammy Davis Jr.
with a special appearance by Step 'n Fetchit has to be one of the funniest
moments on record.

Instead of saying good-bye, let's raise our deserts to
a pie in your eye.
[Big Grin]
The Soup Man was the best.

Soupy Sales dead?!

A sad day indeed. A very funny man. It is always sad when a great clown dies, (and that is not a joke in itself), for sometimes, the best things we remember in life are those moments of humor ....

In honor of Soupy Sales ....

I had the pleasure of twice seeing Soupy perform at The Bottom Line in NYC. Everyone in the audience grew up with Soupy and the shows were fantastic.

A big thrill for me was when I first started to work at WNEW-TV Channel 5 where the Soupy Sales show was produced years before. On the show he always joked around with the studio crew and would talk with Carmen Gebbia, his make-up artist. Carmen was still doing make-up for the station when I was there and this very sweet man would tell great stories about those days.

You're right Michael, Soupy was the best.

Loved Soupy and will miss him. I still have my VHS tapes where he hosted a couple of 3-D movies for channel 5. I'll need to dig those out and transfer them to DVD.

Soupy was kind and generous in person, and a favorite
friend to the founding tent of the NY Sons of The Desert.

One time the NY Sons hosted Soupy, and we had a glimpse
of Soupy's cancelled Prime Time pilot TV program. It was filmed
in color for ABC TV in 1967. Soupy had a spot with Ernest Borgnine
and Judy Garland that was fantastic.
