I wore my Forum badge to The Ealing Convention and was pleased that many members came up and introduced themselves, however, none of them had badges. Introduced to visitors from the USA and Belgium.

There seemed to be an over abundance of Super 8 and DVDs, little equipment other than in interesting 16mm Fumeo with 4000' motor driven arms.

I was after 16mm shorts of which the total was virtually nil. Plenty of 16mm features which didn't seem to be selling, one interesting film was Jimmy Hanley in "Radio Cab Murder" (1954). I had to turn this down as it had a strange smell which could possibly have been V.S., perhaps it was just old age, but that vinegar smell remained under my nose for over an hour!

I asked one well known dealer and he said he very rarely took much in the way of 16mm to conventions as he always had to take them home again, however he did have a few titles of which I bought one. At another well known dealer there was no sign of 16mm but when I asked they were brought from under the counter! Here I bought the Muppets with Bob Hope and a Flintstones TV show, both with good colour.

I must say that all the visitors seemed to be enjoying themselves, although I did not see many carrying films under their arms.

I had a great day at Ealing, and it was great to meet you again Maurice, your badge looked great ( [Wink] )! It was also great to see all the other regular faces and have lots of friendly chat. I haven’t been to a BFCC for a while, despite having once been a regular visitor and occasional trader.

It was my first time at the School venue and I think it works well, it’s smaller than the Town Hall, necessarily so, but that makes it feel much busier and bustling. The screening room was great and having the projection equipment up on the balcony certainly made it feel very professional, although it was always nice to be able to get up close to the projectors and crew at the Town Hall.

Well done John, Keith and all the others for once again putting on a great show that truly brings visitors from all over the world (it was great to share a warm pint of English Ale with you, Doug [Smile] ).

I hope this wasn’t the last one…

I thoroughly enjoyed the day as always. I didn't buy much - Classic's HOLLYWOOD PICNIC, which I'm looking forward to watching later this very evening - but enjoyed the chat. Maurice, Kev, Doug (it was nice to finally meet you), Mal, Colin, John C., Mark Mander, Mark Williams, John Salim, David Groves....etc. all the usual suspects.
[Smile]
Seems like we're getting a lot more DVD, books, memorabilia on sale than film though.

We traveled down from Birmingham starting out at 7.00am.
Another great day, good shows and a pleasure to meet old friends.
Picked up a print of `Wonderbar` today! Thanks to all who contributed, and a special thank you to the two young ladies who served refreshments all day long. I am off to check my new [rint addition now.
Well done to all who supported this event! [Smile]

A great day for me. There are less dealers than in Argenteuil but it seemed that there were more films (which is the most important) than the last years in France (but less material). I was happy to meet some of the forumers, mainly from oversea like me (I had no badge like Maurice but my picture seemed to be enough fot people to recongnize me). Sadly I didn't meet Doug. I bought four 9,5 sound films, a silent standard 8 feature and seven super 8 films. Next year (if, what I hope there will be another edition), I will take a much larger bag. I took some pictures but they don't look so nice (not easy to take pictures at that place) so I will wait to see if someone add pictures and if nobody does I may add one or two.

Great day for me too.
It was nice to meet again Keith, John & Susan and all the others (Doug, Antonio, John S., Dominique, Yanis, Tim just to mention few of them).

I've took some pictures before gates opened (setting up of the screen, thanks to Susan Clancy, and dealers room before opening), I'll contact John to see if he wants them for the BFCC website and publish the remaining on this post later on.

What a terrific experience at a very nice venue. The layout was easier to navigate than then the Ealing Town Hall maze and the screening area allowed for better set up and viewing. It was wonderful meeting so many Forum members and I'm so sorry I did not get to meet everyone who made the trip.
All the more reason to do it again!
When I return to the States I'll post some pictures.

Anyone know who the seller in this picture is? He had a lot of nice films and I wondered if he had an email contact. He disappeared quite early :-(

Vidar,

The gentleman in question is longtime Forum member Mike Peckham.

I'm sorry you and I did not meet up.....I must have spent too much time at the screenings.

Thank you. Yes, much happened to quickly ... Got to meet a few, wish I had time to talk to all, but I am a bit shy.

So, Mr. Peckham ... Any chance of sending me a list of what you still got for sale? Don't know if you sold the Spaceballs movie, but was very interested in that particularly

I do wish they'd keep this going, it was fun rambling through the bargain bins ... Sadly I didn't have money to get The Mummy, as 300 pounds was a bit off my budget at the time.

Regretfully I was unable to get to it with a packed October calendar and beloved had a nasty fall now on crutches. We had the Nine Five event just before so sadly we can’t do it all, but it’s nice to hear everyone having a wonderful time and pretty much guaranteed with such a top team making the event happen.

It could be nice if someone could report all these positive feedback to the organizators. An event like this must be preserved.

Vidar, I'm afraid I don't really have much left to sell, space Balls was sold to Paul Foster, so it will be appearing on his list shortly [Wink] . I was simply selling films from my collection that I haven't viewed for a long time, over 10 years in most cases! I'm not a trader, just downsizing...

I had sold most of what I brought by 12:30 which is why I packed up and was then able to look around the dealers tables myself and watch some films in the cinema.

Looking forward to the next one!

Many thanks to Keith and the Team for another enjoyable BFCC.
Great venue, entertaining shows with impressive Super 8 on that massive screen from such a long throw.
Amongst the many bargains in the dealer hall I was pleased to come away with a print of the recent release Captain America, although expensive, on review I found it to be well worth the asking price as the quality and editing on this is first rate!

Mark so it was you who bought that last copy left. I saw it but it was a tad too expensive at the moment for me right now. I thought though that Phil could have put it in a nicer newer box as it looked like a second hand print.

Congratulations Mark you purchased the test print of CA. It was on sale at Classics open day and I can see a time when collectors start more and more to seek out the original test prints.. Mind you they will have some catching up to do. [Big Grin]
