Last night I had a weird dream of hearing a loud rumbling and the house moving. I woke up this morning and said, that was a strange night [Roll Eyes]

I was told, that we had a 4.6 magnitude just 10km West of the city....did you not feel it? [Eek!] people asked me.... I replied I thought it was all a dream....

Good news at last, it looks like we will be moving out, just after Christmas for a while. They are going to lift the place, re-pile and repair all the past damage, now over the $100.000 mark from the 2011 earthquakes.....

Well its now bedtime, night night. zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Graham.

That must be quite an operation? Lift the house and repair all the damage below. How long will it take?

What I have seen of Norway it looks a beautiful country. That's where the Vikings came from and invaded England...not Scotland though...I think [Roll Eyes]

Pat...It will be interesting, but they have been lifting houses and transporting them complete from other areas. What I understand they are going to do, is to cut holes in the floor and jack it up off the piles, then do whatever they do to the foundation. The house cladding summerhill stone comes off and gets replaced "its all cracked anyway" plus repair all the inside cracks as well, plenty of those. The house is a strong wooden frame with everything around is not structural. The wooden frame of the house is, and takes the load. The insurance is going to replace all the concrete drive way and paths as well. Its certainly major work, I did mention to them would it be better to write the place off and replace it with another building of the same area. They think its still cheaper to fix..so will see. Our insurance policy over the last twelve months has sky rocket and is costing us a now a small fortune.

One thing though, the "illegal" home cinema we built years ago with all the extra steel reinforced concrete I put in at the time has done well. Even though the floor has a crack and the place has a bit of a lean its still good [Smile] The insurance guys were fascinated by the old projectors when they did the house and land assessment and put the words "movie theatre" down in the paper work.

One thing for sure, in many cities around the world the buildings would in all likely, would never have taken that kind of energy released and violent ground movement that goes with it and collapsed.

Well better go an earn some money...

Graham. [Smile]
