If I'm lucky enough to go to one of the shows, I'll sneak in my Super 8 camera!

On the subject of Python and super 8, there was a Python sketch featuring Terry Jones as a hopeless film maker who shot some very bad productions of classic films on his super 8 camera.

I never thought the Pythons remotely funny. The Goon Show, now, that's completely different.

I love Milligan and the Goons, too, in terms of radio. I respect their stuff enormously. The surreal anarchic humour is very similar. However, Python understood how to send up the mediums of television and film in a slightly more structured way. Maurice, watch the fish slapping sketch on Youtube. You can't not laugh at that.

This is great, really really great, and I will definately do my best to get tickets for it.

I've been a Python fan since I learned English really, and I'm glad to say I have "The Holy Grail" on 16mm [Smile]

I am certainly keen on going but as Cleese said last night, there are planets closer to London than Australia.

Did anyone get a ticket? I was lucky to get one for opening night, a long way from the stage. Will need binoculars. Big ones!

I was unlucky as the initial batch of tickets sold out in 43 seconds [Frown] By the time I saw the second wave of tickets available for the other 4 night they had all sold out:(

Sorry you missed out, Mark. They put me in a queue at 9.50am and I got my first night tickets after waiting 35 minutes. Not sure how that happened if they sold out after 45 seconds. Anyway, i'm very happy with the result!

Cheers Jonathan

I will probably have to resort to eBay nearer the dates now as there are bound to be tickets available due to people can't making certain dates etc

Having watched the Goons only film (I think) 'Down among the Z Men' the Goons were obviously much more suited to radio. The film was absolutely dire. I couldn't raise a smile once. At least I can laugh at the Python stuff. Having said that Spike Milligan and Peter Sellers were brilliant comedians. But in that film - oh dear - wasted talent.

I agree, Terry. Milligan's ideas were better suited to radio.None of the Goon-inspired films are terribly good. GHOST IN THE NOONDAY SUN must be the worst. I think Peter Sellers realised this during filming as he seemed to do his best to sabotage it.However, moments of the Q series were brilliant and I can understand why Milligan felt the Pythons had copied his format.
