I don't know what's happening but it's bad for normal budget enthousiasts like us. I saw an ad on a French site for a (long time ago by Ligonie) converted 16 Beaulieu camera to 9.5 The seller offers only the body (no lens) and says that the battery has to be changed. The asked price is 580 euros ! I offered 120 euros, which is I believe a good price ; the camera is rare but there is no garantee it works and you must buy a new battery, I already have lenses). The answer was : 500 euros. I supposed he would never sell it but when I see this thread, I have a doubt.

Yes Andrew that's the one. I know that not many were made but that was probably because they were pretty rubbish at doing the job intended. They were somehow quite fascinating in design and great for a display piece.

I think these bidders must have more money than sense. They must be thinking they are going to be able to sell them on as "Valuable Antiques" at some time in the future, but will all end up in a tip as very few of the younger generations will be interested in collecting old cine equipment, if only because they are so used to being part of the "throw away society" that we now all live in. I rescued a perfectly usable 16mm Eiki projector from a tip a few months ago. All it needed was a pair of spool arm belts. Ken Finch.
