Love these.
I've made a record from a few that have passed through my projectors.

I have always wondered about these 'leader ladies'....

When I started collecting a couple years ago, and knew very little about super 8, these leaders caught me off guard. A couple times i put a film on for the first time and saw the almost subliminal photo pass by, i thought to myself 'geez, i hope i got the right film, especially with the kids around' he hee.
All i saw was some girl whip by and it nearly gave me heart failure! Nice to know these leaders are normal.
Ps- i think i have them on the tail end of the reel in a few cases.

They are almost subliminal. Threw me for a loop when one blinked!

-and the lab had to adjust for skin tones according to the eye of the guy doing the work.

That's more art than science!

Now it would be done (if it was done at all these days) according to some well defined standard using a calibrated instrument.

-reliable, predictable, consistent, cost effective!

I still admire people cultivating a skill, though.

All I ask is a wide screen and a projector to light her by...

Didn't the Rank "Doll" head have greyscale patches down one side of the frame as well?
