This reminds me of a true story: Many years ago, my library rented out 16mm films for free. I rented a print of Lon Chaney's Phantom of The Opera and bought it over to my friend Sharon's apartment to show. Her fiend Marie and another woman happened to be there. After the film ended, Marie and her friend were sleeping. Sharon asked," Didn't you like the film, Marie?" To which Marie replied," I don't like a movie unless it's got talkin' in it." Oh well, at least Sharon and I liked it. Can you imagine if Marie was a film historian? I can see it now:she comes across a 35mm print of London After Midnight. After seeing that it's a silent movie, she chucks it in the garbage proclaiming," It's got no talkin' in it. I'm throwing it away."
