Hello, I recently posted my GS-1200 for sale and the auction is a few days away from ending. I have received quite a few emails from potential international bidders who are interested in the machine, but I have the auction restricted to domestic because the quotes I got to ship it overseas were 50% of the projectors value (astronomical) Is there something that I am missing? Does anyone have any experience with shipping of this nature? How would the projector be treated with customs?

The instruction book for my GS-1200 says under voltage selection "Caution. Projectors sold in the USA are not designed for voltage alteration."
Are your International bidders aware of this or does the model which you are selling have selection for various voltages as mine has?
Taking the UK here as an example, if your projector arrived in Customs they would require (from the purchaser) a 20% fee of the purchase price and shipping charge. ALSO, the British Post Office would take a fee for handling the financial aspects.
In view of such problems and the projector's huge weight my own opinion is that you should restrict the sale to only buyers in the USA.

There is some extra paperwork for shipping to Canada, but the shipping cost would not be prohibitive to a potential buyer here. And of course, there are no issues with power requirements.

Ship to USA and Canada. Forget the rest. Too heavy and costly. The estimates you are getting are correct. If you notice some foreign sellers do the same.
