That's a first for me. I have a feature on regular/standard 8 mounted on four spools that I am putting the film on one large spool. The white leader of the second spool is spiced with tape (I have no tape splicer for that gauge so I use cement). While I was removing the tape, I had the bad surprise to see the sound strip going away with the tape ! I lost a few centimètres of the soundtrack...I still have other tapes to remove, I hope it will go better.

Use an Exacto knife to cut and lift?

I removed the other tapes by starting from the other side and it worked. Very first time I had this problem.
