I have found that some shops still have Xenophot 12v 100w (A1/231) lamps for £2.20 each. Also ELC A1/259 for £4.40. Usually only 2 or 3 per store. The ones they seem to have most of are A1/232 15v 150w for £3.20 some shops have 4 - 6 of these. The web site shows stock levels, though they may be behind the component counter.

I've been stocking up - I hope those near one can do the same.

Thank you, Brian, for the reminder.
I have just got back from my two local Maplin shops in Bristol with my hoard of eleven various lamps. I cleared out their stocks!
A1/215 x 2 @ £1.80 each (GE)
A1/223 x 2 @ £1.60 each (Osram)
A1/231 x 1 @ £2.20 (Osram Xenophot)
A1/232 x 5 @ £3.20 each (Osram Xenophot)
A1/259 x 1 @ £8.99 (Sylvania)
I had an argument about the latter which I said their Web-site quoted £4.40, but they were adamant that it was not included in the sale as it was not old stock, but I suppose £8.99 is not bad for an ELC.
They have no final date for closure, they also confirmed that Maplin mail-order would also close. I expressed my best wishes for their future employment.
At the large Cribbs Causeway Shopping Centre near me where I visited one of the Maplin stores it's a sad week as their nearby Toys 'R' Us have a final sale and are closing down this Friday, 20th April.
