Incredible is right! 29 bids too! Maybe the bidders don't understand the German language. Looks like it was photographed in a strip joint. [Big Grin]

Yes I must say that I thought it looked in a bit of a sorry state especially with the loop former stuck in a position it shouldnt really be in.
Leave it a lone guys.

Hello,

I am quite sure that the foreign bidders did not understand the German description properly. Otherwise such a high price can not be explained. And the highest bidder is from the UK ;-)

I did buy a tinkered ELMO GS-1200 a few weeks ago and I only paid a third. Luckily the one I bought is one of the latest machines with a GS-sign (geprüfte Sicherheit - checked safety) on the back.

Best Wishes

Hi Heinz,
this is not totally thrue. If you check the bidders you see the second offer is from a Germany guy (950 eu from him!)
In an italian forum there was a "match" (with blood!!) about the GS price.

I think when you bought from an "unknow" seller (also with a positive rating)a machine which appears in "A" condiction, the right price is 800/900 eu. But if you buy a tested GS, refurbished and "garanteed" from a famous guy (like Bavaria, or mr. Schachner, or Kevin), the price has to be highter, because you buy a machine without problems, which plays the films without leaves scratches on it, and with the claw and the heads in very good state.
I think the right price for a "ready to go" GS is 1200 eu.

Hi,

Ugo you are completely correct on the second bidder being from Germany. Maybe this bidder is the seller, too ;-)

At the moment there are many, many pushers on Ebay. Some of them are so unfair, that they place a bid which is higher than mine and then cancel the bid a few minutes before the auction ends.

Best Wishes

[Mad] That's terrible. I've started using 'snipe' programs some time ago, in order not to get engaged in bidding wars. These programs place a bid for you a few seconds before the auction ends. You just have to be sure that you put the right bid in (because you won't get a second chance to bid).
I guess 'sniping' also helps to discourage the practice that you just described. Although, they might put in their bid anyway and then tell the second bidder that the highest bidder didn't get through (but at least there is no obligation to buy anymore).
