I cant help with the answer but like yourself have the 3 x 400ft version and as you say its a goody but with a dissapointing ending. Just another 5-10foot would have done tha job properly [Mad] [Mad]
What did those dumb editors think when they were doing this?

This blows. [Frown]

I have been eyeing the WestWorld 3x400 print for a while to add to my collection... but now I consider myself warned. Apparently this is one of those films best enjoyed in full length, even if it means VHS/DVD instead of the real thing.

Nothing ruins a movie like a chop-chop ending and/or missing credits. There's a reason movies are as long as they are nowadays even though the story could be told in much less time in some cases. Heck, I'm one of those people who defiantly stay put in their theater seat once the credits start rolling - while everybody hustles for the exits as the lights come back on. [Mad]

Jan, The atual film is cut down quite well, and is action packed, the film does end sort of OK and there is a "the End" title its just that if they put an Xtra 10 feet in it would have caught the surprise a the Yul Bruner character tries to get up for one last go. Pity really as it would have been a 10 out 10 for editing instead of 8

Robert- Well said!

"WestWorld" is one of my favorite movies, and I bought the 3 parter back in 1980 when it was released on super 8. The digest is excellent, but after watching a long digest like this, you would REALLY expect more than just a fade out and "THE END" [Mad] .

I also thought they should have put the "DELOS" promo commercial at the begining of the digest, like it is in the original movie, which explains the park well, and then ties up perfectly at the end of the movie when the sole survivor (Benjamin) sits back, beat up and exhausted, as he remembers that promo from the beginning..."So visit us today, Boy, have we got a vacation for you, (echo) for you-for you-for you-you-you-you.......... [Smile] .

Now THAT is a perfect ending, and would have added about a minute onto the digest, but what a difference!

But, in spite of these things lacking, its still a good digest if you are a big WESTWORLD fan.

In reference to color quality, mine is still O.K. (it was just O.K. when I bought it new).

Oh,did I mention, it should have been letterboxed or released in scope too.

Sorry Robert, I never saw the 400 foot version, but, I remember reading a film review for WestWorld back in the early 80's, and I think I remember the review saying that there were no additional scenes on the 400 footer [Frown] . I believe the review was in "Super 8 Reader", a monthly put out by L.A. Films (remember them).

Nick.

IŽam sure that if Crichtons own story recycling "Jurrasic Park" in which T-Rex got the part of Yul Brunner would be available as a 3 x 400 digest, the last attack of T-Rex at the end would be also missing.
