Hi David, When I first got my S938 (off ebay) I had a similar problem. I found out it was due to the gate edge guide being slightly out of position, so that the claw was not perfectly centered on the sprocket holes. Remove the cover and open the gate with the little red clamp. You will see the fixed edge guide as the light grey plate , held in place by 2 bolts. If you loosed those bolts slightly you can adjust the position of the fixed edge guide to center the sprocket holes on the claw. This is a trial and error type of adjustment which should be done while running some old reel of film thru the projector and looking on the screen to make sure the picture is not tilted in the gate due to not getting the side plate exactly vertical. Generally speaking the claw will sound the most quiet when you have perfect claw centering. If you do this, and assuming of course that your film prints are reasonably lubricated, I feel sure your problem will totally disappear, it did for me. Give it a try, it's a pretty easy adjustment to do.
