Happy New Year to everyone !
I need to know if there are any major differences between the
ELMO ST 1200D and the ST1200HD. Is the ST1200D a magnetic and
optical playback version ? Some technical details about ST1200D
would be most appreciated. Many thanks and all the best.

I believe the D version has a single output for both the main and the balance stripe. The HD has an output for each of the tracks separately so that way you can hook the projector up to a stereo amplifier. The HD comes in an optical/magnetic or magnetic only. Unsure about the D model. And the casing on the HD's are silver while the D's are a light green color.

I thought the D only had one sound track out.
Best Mark.
There is an older and a newer version, the later one has some of the HD impovements on I believe.

Based on the message of Mark i'd like to add that the latest version of 1200d really comes close to the 1200hd in terms of sound quality and uses a 2-track capable sound head although it provides only one track output. Maybe, with some patience some modification could be done in order to get advantage of the second track as well!

Thank you for your various inputs. But how can one tell which is the former or the latest model ? Thanks.

Well Antonio, i own the two d models and the latest one has two rather than one rubber rollers underneath the sound head. The latter -sound head- is also the specific one used in hd model. As i don't know how to attach photos in this forum send me your email so i can send you a couple the soonest possible.
The optical option has nothing to do with the hd symbol, all 1200 series' projectors were either capable of magnetic or magn.& optical sound reproduction.
The ideal in my opinion would be to have a latest version 1200d magn& opt for general use and a dedicated stereo projector for stereo films. Unless you can pay for a gs1200!!!
