Last night we had our semi-annual cartoon show for the little kids at church.

Despite the challenge of taking a big ceiling mount screen and making it “portable” without drilling holes in the walls, it was worth it. (Take the screens off two tripod mounts, then hang the big screen from the hooks) The kids had fun and the parents that were there (especially the Dads) appreciated the vintage hardware and some cartoons they remember from their own childhoods. I think the people at my church must be a little more open-minded than most, because not one came up to me asking why I just didn’t buy a DVD player. (Should they ask somebody with an Edison phonograph why he doesn’t get an I-pod?, someone with a ’57 Chevy why he doesn’t buy a Hyundai? )

Funny: One Mom was watching Wallace with his home-made rocket. She said: “As if he could build that!” Well, if a mouse could pilot a river boat, then a man and his dog could build a rocket!

Unfortunate: My wife sensed how well the adults responded to the show, and she said to them “Maybe we can do this sometime for the Grown-Ups. We have adult films too!”

(I was quick to amend the statement. Sure, they're open minded, but that's really pushing it!)

Personally, I think adult films on super 8 are a waste of bulb time. It's one of the rare times I would rather watch that on video than on film, unless it's the rare case where it's some 70's story film that just happens to have that borderline R/X material that makes it naughty.

By the way, this was a major complaint of people when comparing early porn, (that is, 70's porn industry) and what came of it in the 80's on up, as the films of the 70's (some actually on super 8 as features) had actual story lines that you might actually get into.

A perfect example was "Emanuelle", the first of that series that, while it was an X rated film, it was actually a very well structured film, as well as elagantly photographed. This title I know was released as a full feature. i believe that it was a Marketing release, (or Columbia? I don't remember.)

Nice story, [Smile] I like your wife comments "we have adult films too", I can just imagine the thoughts that might run through some people's minds [Roll Eyes] .

-some understood exactly what she meant,

...others just had that "what?" expression.

My wife has spoken English since she was little, yet still seems to have her own language sometimes!

That's right Osi. Speaking of "adult films" in church. Remember "Emmanuelle's Bad Habit". [Big Grin]
