Difficult to see from the picture, but, is this a manual threader?

I used to have one. Good machine (great capacity, good Schneider lens, easy semi auto threading, back pressure plate on film gate) but a finicky micrometric focusing system which tends to burn fingers and an average sound unit.
After using extensively both the Beaulieu 708 and the GS1200, the Elmo wins.

JM, I have to say that I agree with you. I had the stereo version and in the end I couldn't wait to get shot of it.
For me the GS wins too.
I used to get issues with poor sound quality on some package movies but was told this was down to the non standard head widths. Those same movies played back fine on the GS.

GS1200 Xenon with Elmo 1.0...great combo along with a 16-CL Xenon for that super bright white light.

Indeed, Kev, soundheads on the Beaulieu are slightly narrower than on other machines. And the assay which claps around the film in this area isn't very tolerant to thick splices and films that aren't EXACTLY 8mm wide.

Brad.
Me also got a 708 and I just love it and use it for most shows now. 2400ft reels make life much simpler and a fairly simple film path is kind to film. Nice job..

I have to say that I own one of these as well. I think they are fantastic machines. The light from them with their 2 bladed shutter and the fast pull down claw, micrometric focusing and their kindness to films...just great. I use the GS mostly for recording films and playback of of scope films but lately I have been using the Beaulieu more. When I received it, it had numerous problems but I sent the machine out to Bjorn from Beaulieu Sweden and he replaced the motor, the claw and some other things and this machine just purrrrss. It seems no matter what film I put through it, it is always quiet and silky smooth. Beaulieu 708EL Stereo and Elmo GS1200? Ah...Apples and Oranges! [Smile]

Now where is that review of the Fumeo 9145 Xenon Stereo Machine? [Eek!]

No, whoever buys it might be taking a bath. Maybe it's a hint.

Check out the zero feedback.

Me thinks buying any antique item such as a vinatge projector is taking a chance, but if you find a good 708 as I did you will certainly fall in love with it.

Happy cine day!

Very strange bidding history on this. A zero feedback selling to another zero feedback, on a $500 item that only got that way because the "winner" set the first bid high on that amount.

Looks like a shill to me.....
