I hope I'm not being redundant, but I have a question about a film stock.

the stock is:

Eastman, followed by a circle, square and "X", followed by a "19"

Is this a unmarked L.P.P. stock and if so, when was it manufactured?

I ask as I want to date this print as well.

Thank you.

Osi, it is 1982 and would be SP. SP was marked on the edge in the 1970's but vanished leading up to LPP in 1983.

So, it can be said that kodak SP was not always labeled as SP, as this print nowhere on the print says SP?

Osi, in the late 1970's the 7378 and 7379 Eastman stocks replaced the older SP, but despite promising lower fade characteristics, they have all faded on me just like SP, so I group them all together.

LPP in 1983 was the real breakthrough, I have yet to see a faded LPP print. It is possible some LPP came though in 1982 (I have not seen it), but it would have carried the LPP letters.

Hi David, yes there is a fair bit of 1982 LPP about, acetate and poly/estar.
But they did have low fade available for 40 odd years almost by then of course KC, imagine if all those lovely films made it on to that.
Imagine super 8 films if LPP had come out in 75 say, wow !!!! or they ahd used a KC process for super 8
Best Mark.

Yes Mark I have heard of LPP in 82, but at the theatre I worked at it first appeared in 83. It was a six theatre complex running a good deal of 70mm. Perhaps 16mm stock was available first; that was mostly slit for Super 8 too I understand.

I always try and grab Kodachrome and IB Tech prints of the travelogues I collect on 16mm, the quality is still amazing.
