It sounds like a ground wire is broken, checking the amplifer, I not showing and sign of broken wires. Has anyone else encountered this?

Maybe it is something else on your system. Check all other devices for something that is not grounded, and/or outlets that are not grounded.

Thanks for the advice chip but it didn't help in my case. The amp says STK 106 power amp, is that normal for the st1200? I googled that term and got a bunch of matches for STK and Amplifiers. Any advice would be appreciated.
