Hi well recently I was asking about how people found the light output etc with fitting a two blade shutter. For me I was considering it in a very nice Elmo ST180 100 watt usual I bought off ebay to be my main machine.

Well I decided to go for it and got the machine sent straight to Elmo Central in the UK, the only place for me to get it done.
Our own Mr Elmo, Kev, F.

Kevs wizard like know how has serviced, belted her and fitted the two blade for me so when it got here it runs like a dream but the best bit is really what the two blade has done for the machine.

STUNNING, the picture quality !!!! what a difference over the old std machine 600 feet elmo.

Its just such a noticeable jump in picture quality even with just the std 1.3 lens still and xenophot bulb, the prints look more vital and crisp and sharpened up and of course a little brighter, The real bonus for me as well is that the colours are actually looking nicer as well.

All in all chuffed to bits on a great job well done and the little Elmo now performing like an ST1200. It really is that good.

If like me you are one of the more budget or family types running elmo 160, 600,s or a 180 or even a GS800 this would be one of the best things you can do for your machine.

I had exactly the same experience as Mark's when I modified my GS1200 to 2-blade. It makes a huge difference, and the first thing you do is go through all your films to see how much better they look! [Wink]

I think John Clancy once made the statement that the main reason people think DVD is better than super 8 is due mainly to the much greater brightness of video projectors. When you get your super 8 projectors more close to the brightness of video projectors then super 8 really starts to shine, and the full beauty of those color prints really starts popping off the screen.
Last year I was at Keith Wilton's home in Ealing and he showed me a Presley film on his GS Xenon. I can only say that the picture quality was stunning with that super white light, better than any DVD projection I have seen.

Thanks for those kind words Mark. That little 180 of yours is a nice machine and it is running so well. I had a picture of about 4ft across after the 2 blade shutter was installed and I was also impressed.
That extra lux is well worth while. A 1.1 lens will really make a big difference and yes I did try it with a 1.1 [Cool]
