I was curious if anyone has a standard 8 Eumig they love that has good light output?

I have a couple of Eumigs a S712 D and a 607D and I love them both for some reasons but not for others..... I think both are very kind to the film and hold a nice steady picture, and I love that the 712 has the double stripe sound capability BUT neither has a good light output so I kept looking and found the Elmo AP-8. Is there a Eumig that someone thinks might be a better way to go?

I love the rare silents I can find on the standard 8 format, but without a great lens and light output it can be like watching a film through a dirty clouded window, because often the source material used was not the best.

I agree with this. I think a Eumig p8 that I have been working on is a thing of beauty. In my opinion, one of the most beautiful projectors made, (yep, I have a thing for it, snicker!).

But it has never been good about the lighting, though. Kind of dim, to be quite honest.

Well if yoiu get a later model of this superb machine,it comes with the 12v 100w halogen bulb,the ones without rflectors as the built in one on the Eumig give a lovely white light.

I was always impressed with my Eumig Mark S standard 8mm sound only machine. Beautiful white light...uses a tiny bulb with no reflector. The reflector is in the projector. A true workhorse.

I have one of these machines too. Excellent IMHO. Took me a long time to find a decent one, but I use it as a dedicated Standard 8 sound projector.

I also love, of course my other Standard 8 silent machines: 4 x Elmo E-80s; 1 x Elmo F-80; 1 x Ampro Futurist 8. I like to use them in rotation whenever possible. I have converted the Eumig Mark S, one of the Elmo E-80s, and the Elmo F-80 to accept 800ft reels. It is not possible to convert the Ampro as the arms are part of the body casting.

All of these projectors, apart from the Eumig, use a 110volt 750watt lamp, which, being a lover of early technology, I find superb - and the light output is pretty good as well!

Gary is your Mark S 220v or 110v? I hate having to lug around my voltage converter just to watch a flick...

I'm new to this forum; a quick introduction: I've been filming with Standard 8, Super 8 and Single 8 the last 9 months and I am really loving it. What got me started was the amazing look of the films that my grandparents left me from the 60's.
They also left an Eumig P8 with me and I had never noticed how dim its image was until I got an Eumig 610D; additionally I got an Eumig 807D given for free (you see, I come from Eumig-country!), which has a weaker projection lamp than the 610D but its gate frame is much better.

Dino...it is convertable...but set for 110. It had millions of feet of film pass through it until it finally gave it up...the rubber on the drive wheel was finally worn too thin. and besides, the 810d's and the 824d's I have now are good, too..with much better hum free sound.

I actually just lost out on one on ebay so I'm gonna first try a little mod on the elmo AP-8. I'm gonna switch the 21v 150w lamp with a halogen and see how that works until I can find another one.
