Hi all,

On Oemer's new thread on Pleadge project CARS, I was pledging for 2 x 400". We now this all are just for fun.

So let us play that we are a Company who is going to release the said film into real.

I am in the position to release the Universal-8 artwork style or Marketing Films (the two are the best artwork for modern film for me) however, no editor is in the position to take a job.

So now I challenge you guys to edit this film from 117 minutes into 2 x 400" (35 to max. 40 minutes).

This will be a fun competition!

Simply use your Windows Movie Maker (which is always installed in Windows System) to cut the films.

You can upload your creation at youtube and we all become the jurors. I believe this must be divided into 3 parts since youtube does only allow 10 minutes per upload.

So I will set up the basic requirements (you can add later on), that the edited version must:

1. Include the opening and closing credit (not all, but at least not jump into the scene).

quote:
1.a In regard to the opening/closing title, if it is needed, you are allowed to use the opening scene and adding your own credit title on that scene (but then you must have the ability to do it in your computer). The same rule also applies for closing title
2. The story must cover the whole story from start to the end (not part of the episode, e.g only the racing scenes)

3. Don't make an abrupt ending (we all hate Marketing Films in this matter).

4. You cannot make any additional narrator (you are not those Columbia bad editors), but adding title card is allowed

5. Duration of the final version is not less than 35 minutes but not more than 40 minutes (you are going to over spill by then).

6. The final version can be easily understood by those who have not seen the full feature (I will invite my grandma to watch your edit and ask her to re-tell [Big Grin] )

7. what else.... you can add .

I want to see what will be the result if we were those editors in 1970s. [Wink]

The first winner will have a present from us.... [Big Grin]

I believe Christian will be interested with this challenge as he can do many things with his computer... may be you too Gian? [Wink]

Anyone else to take this challenge...??

cheers,

Oh, Winbert, you read my mind!

I will see what I can do and upload it to my own server so YouTube won't go all bitchy about it being "copyrighted".

Great Idea. My son is 4 years old and he watched the movie more than 10 times (maybe more than 20 times) and he close his eyes every time as Lighning destroy the street and Stanley landed in front of him. This must be cut!

Hehe, I haven't seen the movie in quite some time, so I will have to watch it and take notes. Maybe I'll go all Universal 8 and cut characters completely, like they did with "Animal House" [Wink]

You guys really know how to add fun to this great hobby! Its a wonderful idea, and I would surley participate if I had seen the movie, but I havent [Frown] . I will certainly be following this thread though.

Incidently, I've been dreaming of editing a super 8 feature for decades, and now have plans to edit an old feature that I don't watch anymore, into a 40 minute digest! Sure, I could probably get 150-200 bucks for it on e-bay, but the experience of editing and re-recording it will be worth more than that to me.

More later- getting WAY off topic [Wink]

Good luck guys!

James.
