Gian....

I had an East Of Eden, and Mommie Dearest, back when I collected the first time in the 1990's. The EOE was part of a trailer reel by Thunderbird Films, quality not so great. On the other hand, the MD trailer was the long version that ran in theatres, and was probably LPP, as the colors were very good. I don't know if MD was ever released on S8? Does anyone know? That's a film I'd like to have for sure.

As for the other three, I'm unsure. I ran Frances back in 82 or 83.... wasn't a blockbuster, I'm thinking I ran it for a 2-3 week run. Doesn't mean the trailer wasn't put out on S8, though.

Thanks a lot for your post, Greg.
At least I know 2 of them have been released.

I don't think MD was issued on 8mm. But if someone has any info about it, well, two of us seem now to be very interested (that's a movie I'd like to have too on 8mm).

I unfortunately know about the scarce audience interest for FRANCES. A real pity. It's a great movie and the touching story of a genuine and wratched artist, in my opinion.

About the trailers Greg has mentioned, if someone has a print for sale I'm here [Razz] !

Osi might know about Mommie Dearest, this was released fall of 1981, Paramount. With Footloose (Gian, I hear you drooling) being released for optical/airline, probably 1984 (?), when did Paramount start supplying the airlines with their flicks?

Ah, loved the movie Frances. Jessica did a great job!

I totally agree about Jessica Lange performance, Greg: perfectly imperfect.
Don't say anything about FOOTLOOSE ( [Frown] )... [Wink]

Osi, any info about MOMMIE DEAREST? Thanks!

It's now 1.51 am.
I've been (that's not a joke) suffering insomnia since I was a little kid... [Frown]

I would highly doubt that Mommie Dearest was ever released on optical Super 8 as a feature. Being that whole families would watch these films, they would have had to have wedited that film so much as to make it a digest.

Hee hee. Could you imagine some kids being tramautized by those scenes with the mother beating her child to "No Wire Coat hangers!!!" Those little kids shivering and twitching as they got off the flight to a nice happy stewardess waving and saying ...

"Buh-bye, buh-bye!"

Gian ...

Good news about the trailers. We are one step closer to getting them released!
